Demag IC-1 Remote enables remote access to crane data

The digitization of the working world has long since become an integral part of the crane industry. With this in mind, Terex Cranes is for the first time presenting its new IC-1 Remote cloud solution, which enables remote access and diagnosis of relevant crane data from any location, at this year’s bauma.

IC-1 Remote expands the possibilities of the innovative IC-1 control system to incorporate mobile remote access to relevant display parameters. In technical terms, the IC-1 Remote system consists of a radio unit with a SIM card that is connected to a central cloud server where crane data are transmitted and stored. Via a web browser, authorized users can retrieve and process this data for state-of-the-art crane and fleet management. The data can be accessed at any time and from any location, and from any terminal device, such as stationary PCs in offices, mobile tablets or smartphones, when the service is available. In addition to the access available for the crane owners, it is also possible for Terex Cranes Customer Service to provide support services via IC-1 Remote.

The advantages of IC-1 Remote are obvious: The system enables Terex Cranes customers to manage their fleet in an efficient and data-driven manner, with access to information on the crane’s location and its operating status: from the load weight on the hook during an operation to the main boom length, complete with boom angle and anemometer readings for the wind speed, to the fuel level and the oil and coolant levels including fluid temperatures. The information can be accessed in the cloud and is permanently protected against unauthorized access.

On the start page of the system, authorized users can see at a glance all cranes in their entire fleet that are connected to the IC-1 Remote network. They can read whether a crane is “logged in” to the system, when the machine was last connected, whether it is currently in operation or whether error messages or alarms are displayed. It is also possible to call up geographical map data such as the location of the crane or the distance traveled.

In addition, IC-1 Remote offers service functions via remote diagnosis. For example, the system can use the data from the IC-1 control system, which can be evaluated by a service technician. Also practical: In the future, it will be easy to perform software and parameter updates for the connected cranes via IC-1 Remote.
