First Demag AC 55-3 all terrain crane goes to Wiesbauer
ZWEIBRÜCKEN – May 3, 2018 – Crane service provider Wiesbauer, headquartered in Bietigheim-Bissingen, secured their first Demag® AC 55-3 all terrain crane. The crane is destined for the Rhein-Neckar branch in Plankstadt and was handed over by Terex Cranes Sales Manager Michael Zieger to the branch’s Managing Director Norman Weitzel, and crane operator Peter Graf.
“In addition to the compliance with axle load limits, we were especially impressed by the AC 55-3’s longest main boom in its class at 50 meters, which makes the use of additional jibs superfluous for many jobs. This means that in most cases the crane is ready to get to work right away and without additional assembly work,” explained Norman Weitzel.
As with all deliveries of a new crane type, Terex Cranes team members were on site for the Demag AC 55-3 in Plankstadt as well. The two service technicians Martin Stiffel and Thomas Frey briefed the crane operator on his new machine. He soon realized that the AC 55-3 is very user-friendly. “The crane can be driven very easily. It is well adjusted and can be operated very precisely,” emphasized Graf. This training service provided by the manufacturer was particularly welcomed by Norman Weitzel.
“We mainly purchased the AC 55-3 for use in the construction of cellars, prefabricated houses, and lifting ventilation equipment. It has already mastered its first tests with flying colors, just as we expected,” says Norman Weitzel, pleased with the new acquisition.
One-man operation and limit-compliant axle loads
The three-axle AC 55-3, launched in March 2018, has a lifting capacity of 55 tonnes. Its telescopic main boom is extended and retracted by a single cylinder and, at 50 meters, offers the largest overall length of all three-axle all terrain cranes on the market. In addition, the main boom can be lowered by up to 5° below level for easy and safe rigging.
As a completely new design, the Demag AC 55-3 offers a series of technical innovations that, among other things, allow one-man operation. These include, for example, the automatic counterweight rigging system for quick and easy crane setup, the single-engine concept that minimizes operating and maintenance costs, and the IC-1 Plus control system, which allows for utilizing the maximum lifting capacity for any configuration.
With a width of only 2.55 meters and the ability to meet the 12-tonne axle load limits, the AC 55-3 gets quickly and efficiently from one job site to the next. If required, the crane can also be configured for an axle load limit of 10 tonnes.
