New Demag AC 220-5 all terrain crane for Heeren Groep

Netherlands-based Heeren Groep recently acquired a new AC 220-5, making it the seventh Demag crane that the company has put into operation to date: “Demag cranes have been an essential part of our fleet for a long time now. In the past, the range of products we had went from the AC 100 to the big AC 1200“, reports Ronald Leeuw, Operational Manager for the crane rental division at Heeren Groep, who adds that the AC 220-5 is replacing the previous representative from the same class – a Demag AC 200-1 – in his fleet.
The 78-meter-long main boom, which marks the top of the range in this capacity class, was the most important characteristic of the new 5-axle unit when it came to the company’s purchase decision. “On top of this, when used together with the IC-1 Plus control system, the AC 220-5 can take care of lifts that would normally be feasible only for bigger cranes,” Ronald Leeuw adds as another crucial advantage of the crane. The Demag AC 220-5 has already completed its first projects successfully: “It did an absolutely wonderful job lifting and placing precast concrete elements. In addition, a job where it will be using the 21-meter main boom extension for the first time ever is just around the corner, so the crane will be working with a system length of 99 meters,” says Ronald Leeuw, pointing out another huge advantage behind the Demag AC 220-5.
