Wagenborg receives Demag AC 500-8 and AC 160-5 all terrain cranes
Dutch crane service provider Wagenborg is further expanding the Demag part of its crane fleet. Following the successful operation of two Demag AC 500-2 cranes and one AC 700-9 crane for several years, the company has now acquired two further Demag cranes with the AC 160-5 and AC 500-8 models. The cranes were handed over by Steve Filipov (President, Terex Cranes) and Thomas Schramm (Vice President Sales Demag, Terex Cranes) to Jan-Ebe Boerema, Technical Manager at Wagenborg and crane operator Stephan Kupper.
“The decision to purchase two more Demag cranes was easy for us because we have already experienced the excellent reliability of the brand,” explains Jan-Ebe Boerema, who particularly appreciates the short set-up times, high performance and impressive lifting capacities of this manufacturer’s cranes. He also sees the high safety standards, including sophisticated fall protection systems, as further crucial plus points of Demag cranes. As specific advantages he mentions the emergency operation and emergency lowering functions, as well as the IC-1 Plus control system for real time lifting capacity determinations dependent on the slewing angle of the superstructure. In his view, compliance with globally applicable emission standards and the fulfilment of legal requirements with regard to axle loads are also important for international applications.
Wagenborg will use the new cranes primarily for heavy lifts, including in tandem with the existing AC 500-2. The areas of application range from industrial and prefabricated construction to concrete assembly through to lifting of special load parts. “Both cranes are equally well suited for this,” emphasizes Jan-Ebe Boerema, who is, however, particularly interested to see the performance of the first Demag AC 160-5 in the Wagenborg fleet. “After all, the AC 160-5 enjoys an excellent reputation in the industry, which it is sure to live up to here with its compact design and 68-meter-long main boom,” he says.
