With its new electrohydraulic E-Pack, Demag is making its AC 45 City crane more versatile than ever before. In fact, the new unit not only enables the AC 45 City to work in crane operation with zero emissions, but also makes it significantly quieter. Accordingly, using the crane with the optional E-Pack is particularly recommended for buildings, city centers, and nighttime assignments in residential areas.

To get the Demag AC 45 City to work with the E-Pack, all that is needed is to equip it with the corresponding electrical and hydraulic connections. This can be done directly at the factory for new orders or as a retrofit for Demag AC 45 City cranes that have already been delivered. The E-Pack not only makes it possible to perform crane functions, but can also be used to run the air conditioning system and charge the vehicle battery. When travelling, the crane can transport the unit with a special transportation system so that it will not be necessary to transport the unit to the work site separately. Once at the site, the unit can be unloaded from the crane and connected to a common 400 V / 63 A electrical power supply.

The performance characteristics of the Demag AC 45 City when operated with the environmentally friendly E-Pack are astonishing: When it comes to telescoping, luffing the main boom, and running the hoist with empty hook, there are only a few limitations in comparison to operation with the diesel engine. Even the maximum lifting capacity is available with a hoisting speed of 32 meters per minute, compared to the 111 meters/minute when using diesel operation. When rotating the superstructure, the diesel engine can achieve 1.9 revolutions per minute, while the E-Pack is able to deliver 1.24 revolutions. Due to high demand, Terex Cranes will offer the E-Pack for additional AC crane models in the medium term.
